Taking part in MS bike rides, forming fun teams and fundraising for charity has become a hugely popular way to drive MS research forward faster, and deliver programs and services to those who face the challenges of MS every day.

Every year Bike MS conducts over 100 rides cross the country raising over $1 billion in funds to move the research forward, aimed at ending MS forever.

What makes ‘Jack and Back’ so special?

Here are 7 Reasons as 7 R’s why we think you will love the Jack and Back Bike MS Ride:

1. Ride for a cause

Ride for a cause

Is there a cause that drives you? Everyone has a charity or two close to their hearts. Do you think you care for those living with Multiple Sclerosis? Then, Jack and Back 2016 is a ride that will take you farther than you've ever gone before. People often get involved as a part of I Ride with MS program or to support some near and dear one who is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. But Jack and Back - Bike MS is for anyone who is committed to doing good, making new friends, and finding new adventures on the road.

2. Resonate awareness

Each year, 7,500 teams and 100,000 cyclists participate in country-wide Bike MS rides. Imagine the power of influence as you toot your horn on social media to tell everyone about your charity bike ride and how to donate. You end up creating magnificent awareness about this illness. With just a single post or tweet you reach a variety of people in a variety of places in a short period of time.  So get ready to take out your phones and say #bikeMS from the Jack and Back Ride.

3. Remain fit

Mountain CyclingJack and Back 2016 is an extraordinary 2-day fundraising cycling event that makes a great way to spend a healthy weekend. It combines the physical challenge of biking that enhances your fitness with the emotional aspect of seeing all MS fighters and their supporters shove out their physical, mental and emotional comfort zones and come out for the weekend. Bike MS rides are hard, or at least pretty challenging for most fitness levels. There are multiple route options, all of which are well supported with fully-stocked rest stops every 10-12 miles, a great lunch stop each day and safety provided by medical personnel, HAM radio operators, law enforcement and motorcycle escorts. Follow this link for further ride details.

4. Represent a team

Each year nearly 80 percent of cyclists make a bigger impact by riding with Bike MS as part of a team. For a first time participant, a team is a great way to get involved with the Bike MS community. Teammates look out for each other. They come up with inspiring creative ideas for raising funds.

As a first timer you might be experiencing many fears and that’s where a team will provide support helping you overcome your concerns. Also, your teammates will motivate you to train (especially on those cold mornings when you don’t want to get out of your rug!).

5. Raise fundsCharity

Raising funds is one of the most important elements of the Bike MS series.  Each cyclist is required to raise at least $300 and all donations to the National MS Society are tax-deductible. Several cyclists are known to go above and beyond this bare minimum to help the MS Society reach their goal. Fundraising is a great wat to involve your friends, family, neighbors, acquaintances, alumni, business associates and everyone you know to be a part of this movement.  All the donation you get will depend on how well you show your passion and excitement for the cause.

6. Renounce control

A bicycle is a curious vehicle. The rider is its engine. While riding for Bike MS, renounce all your thoughts and smile more. Stop worrying and start living. If you worried about falling off the bike, you’d never get on it. So let go off all thoughts of your tough times. They don’t last. But tough people do. Just turn off your mind and focus on this ride. You can’t buy happiness but you can Ride for Bike MS and that’s pretty close. Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride for a cause. Don’t just ride, ride Bike MS.

7. Rouse others

After the ride, the motion of Jack and Back is etched in your leg muscles and a profound sense of accomplishment is manifested in your mind. Good actions give you immeasurable strength and a push to inspire actions in others.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
- Winston Churchill

People don’t give because someone asked them to. They give because they want to help, or they are moved by someone’s story, they want to change someone’s life. So tell you story loud and clear and make that human connection to inspire others to Ride on your time next time.

Team BikeStreetBoys is biking to Jack and Back this year! Join us with one goal—a world free of MS. We'd love to have you onboard. Come, take the big ride with us to experience a magic that will change lives.
